If there’s one female rap voice from Kenya you have to know about (other than Stella Mwangi), it’s definitely Muthoni the Drummer Queen. Don’t be too quick to reduce her to a simple “African Missy Elliott”, because she’s more than that! She writes, sings, raps and bring her own flavor to a male-dominated area like no one else! And oh, as you can guess by her name, she’s a drummer too.
This week, she released a brand new video for her “Get Up“ single, from her latest album,MDQ. The video was shot and directed in Nairobi, by Tedd Josiah, and speaks hope for the mental tribulation of everyday thoughts and struggles in African families.
The song was written and performed entirely by Muthoni the Drummer Queen, and was produced & Arranged by GR! and hook with amazing additional guitar by Sylvain Zbinden at ”La 39ème Chambre” studios in Switzerland.
